Goodbye to The Jug of Ale?
So, not content with threatening the future of a number of live music venues in Digbeth, it appears that luxury flat developers are spreading their wings. The next stop on the developers dream tour of Birmingham is Moseley, with The Jug of Ale rumoured to be closing in just 6 weeks.
I’ve seen many a band play upstairs at the Jug, its small intimate setting is perfect for local breaking bands. Some I’ve seen have gone onto greater things, others, well they haven’t done quite so well…
Whatever happens here, it’s just another example of a historic live music venue being wiped off the map in Birmingham.

Much as I love the Jug of Ale, it has turned into, well, a bit of a dump in recent times. There are better places in Moseley to see new music, and certainly better places in Digbeth. Either someone needs to invest serios money, or more likely, the property people get it.

Valid point, although a venue is much more to do with the people and the experience than what it looks like

True, though some decent ventilation would help, and maybe floors you don’t stick to - although maybe that’s my age beginning to show!!

terrible news, like there aint enough flats already. I agree its a little shabby nowa days but nothing a refurb would sort out surely?
